Zia Lennox doesn't want to be the center of attention. Her anxiety and pessimistic attitude keeps her single and she just wants to find the next best-seller in her inbox to boost her career. But on the day she meets Bryce, a persistent lawyer new to her building, she finds the novel she's been waiting for. With the future of representing the next best-seller and a future with Bryce, Zia's life is looking great. Until the author, Baxter, shows his desire for Zia.

Zia struggles between her feelings for Bryce and Baxter. Questions about her place in Bryce's life and the story behind Baxter come up. As well as murders that are eerily similar to the ones in the book she's publishing. All this making Zia's once reserved, quiet life into something more exciting but definitely more complex.

Chameleons by Onyx Gold is a thrilling romantic novel perfect for fans of both genres. There are twenty-four chapters in the book, and it's honestly hard to stop at any one of them. The author never drops the romantic element of the story, it's present throughout each twist and reveal. There are some hot explicit scenes in the story, so be prepared and enjoy.

The author creates a story that allows the reader to guess what happens next but also to be surprised. We're given characters that are three-dimensional, allowing us be for and/or against throughout the story. Zia is character with anxiety (something I also suffer from) and she was written beautifully! There's a scene when she is having a panic attack and I found no complaints, the author captured the experience perfectly.

This book is definitely a go-to for women, 20 and older, that want an exciting romance with a daring mystery without wanting to commit to a series. The book provides the sweet romantic moments while having moments of raw, almost animalistic, passion and a mystery that keeps us enthralled.

I enjoyed reading this book, and I will definitely reread it in the future. It's a quick read of under 300 pages but still creates a world that is strong enough to pull readers in and keep them until they finish reading. The characters are real, the plot is stable, the romance/passion is off the charts, the mystery is exciting. Chameleons has earned it's 4 out of 4 stars and more. There no typos to distract us from the story and only leaves you wanting to see what Onyx Gold will give us next.
