Izzy Wyatt has worked hard to leave her dark past behind. She has a steady job and lives a quiet life in her little apartment with her dog. Due to her unsavory past, a romantic relationship is not on her radar, but when Derek Warner steps into the picture, she finds it hard to ignore the chemistry between them.
Derek Warner is a handsome, wealthy businessman who has set his sights on Izzy but can't figure out why she keeps giving him the cold shoulder. He is determined to find out more about this enigmatic beauty, but she needs to trust him first.
To make matters more complicated, Izzy begins to receive mysterious notes and phone calls, which leads her to believe that her dangerous ex-boyfriend has tracked her down.
After everything that Izzy has been through, will she be able to give her heart to Derek?
Love Me, Always by KT Elizabeth is a thrilling story about love, trust, and revealing painful secrets. The chapters alternate between Derek and Izzy's perspective, which provides the reader with a stronger understanding of the couple's unique personalities.
One thing that I loved about the book was the author's ability to convey Izzy's apprehension regarding matters of the heart. She had mixed feelings about letting down her guard around Derek, and her inner struggle was thoroughly outlined to the reader. She desperately wanted to trust him, but the fear of Derek finding out about her past seemed to be holding her back. An example of her uneasiness is as follows: "I'm terrified of what will happen if he ever finds out about my past. I'm damaged goods, and he'll leave me as soon as he realizes that. The fear is eating me up. Maybe it's still too soon to try and be with someone."
While I thoroughly enjoyed the book, I think it could have been even better had the author added in a third perspective. A large portion of the book revolved around Izzy's fear of her ex-boyfriend, Marc. A look into Marc's psyche could have added an extra layer of intrigue.
Love Me, Always was professionally edited, and I did not notice any errors. Although I liked the book, I think the antagonist's point of view could have provided more intensity resulting in a better reading experience. With that being said, I chose to give the book a rating of 3 out of 4 stars.
I would recommend this romantic thriller to adult readers who enjoy love stories with a dark twist. The characters are keen on exploring their sensual side so readers who like erotic fiction will be fans of Love Me, Always. If you love books that are heavily based on dialogue, this book is for you!
I think it is essential to warn readers of the mature themes explored in Love Me, Always. There are numerous accounts of profane language and explicit sex scenes. Many of the scenes deal with violence that is sexual, which could be a trigger for some readers. I would highly dissuade younger audiences from picking up this book, as well as individuals who are sensitive to the topics mentioned above.
