Edward O. Wilson. He write science so that anyone can understand it. In addition to being an intelligent professor, he is actually quite a good writer and his books are interspersed with anecdotes and a sense of humor. Oliver Sacks and Steven Pinker are good in similar ways.

I'm not that much into non-fiction books, honestly because my life is so dull that I need some sf here. However, I liked this particular non-fictional writer, Noam Chomsky, with books like The Fateful Triangle or Failed States. Enjoy!

I read so much non-fiction that it's a true challenge to try and pick out my favorite author. If I really had to choose I would probably pick Jared Diamond. His book, Collapse, really got me interested in the non-fiction genre. He writes in a manner that is informative but still very enjoyable to read.

I'm going to have to look up some of the authors mentioned in this post; I'm always on the lookout for new non-fiction authors!

Bill Bryson, such a great story teller that if I pick up one of his books, I won't be putting it down for a long time

I love Jared Diamond! Germa, Guns, and Steel was informative and engrossing, its the "prequel" to Collapse.

I love the memiors of Frank McCourt. Anything even remotely irish just sucks me in.
The joys of literature transcend the evils of the world. I believe in its miraculious baptism and emotional power of the words trickling down the page. To me, there is no higher artform...

I'd give some love to Malcolm Gladwell. I've only read two of his books but I liked them both, and I don't tend to follow nonfiction authors with the same ferocity I follow fiction.

Alison Weir. I adore her work on Henry VIII.

Currently I'd have to go with Laura Hillenbrand (Seabiscuit, Unbroken) and Erik Larson (Devil in the White City, In the Garden of Beasts)

Lately it would be either AW Tozer or Max Lucado.

My hands-down favorite is David Sedaris. He is absolutely hysterical, be careful if you read his books in public because you will bust out laughing and people will look at you. He's also frequently on NPR. I also really enjoy Malcolm Gladwell's books, he writes about really interesting topics and is still a great storyteller even when writing non-fiction. And Howard Zinn's A People's History is a very good book if you're tired of only ever hearing about the old white guys who allegedly did everything good ever in America. I highly recommend that to anyone who is an American citizen, really.

Definitely David McCullough. His books have so much detail and flow that they read similar to fiction. I've read and enjoyed all of his books.
