My favorite series was and is the seven book series involving Pellucidar by Edgar Rice Boroughs. Read the series in high school and currently beginning to re-read the series. A fantastic story about a civilization at the center of Earth.

If you are into the legend of King Arthur and Avalon, I highly recommend The Mists of Avalon and the connected books, all by Marion Zimmer Bradley. They are ethereal and epic and woman-focused

Harry Potter, of course. Then I really enjoyed the Odd Thomas series. And at one point, I was really into Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles.
