Humorous Cozy Mystery Authors?

Post by Christina2 »

I've been switching around in my reading and lately I've liked cozy mysteries a lot and I'm always on the lookout for a new author who not only writes a good mystery series, but adds humor to it.

Have any good suggestions?

Carlos Ruiz Zafon - The Shadow of the Wind. Misterious and funny

Me too, Sadya. I like all of Alan Bradley's books. His heroine, Flavia de Luce. is incorrigible.

I like the Undead Series by Mary Janice Davidson. Her main character is a smart alec tall blonde vampire queen. Her books crack me up.

I think I heard Janet Evonovich (sp?) books are kind of funny, but haven't read any yet.

I'm not sure if his novels falls into the mystery genre exactly, but I do really enjoy Christopher Moore novels for their humor and there whodunit kind of story.

Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series are definitely worth reading. Mystery and mayhem with a dash of New Jersey sass. Very entertaining.

Okay, so not a new author but the Cat Who... series by Lilian Jackson Braun is great, especially the ones after he moves up north to Moose County. From the upper midwest myself, I really enjoy the setting she weaves. Also hilarious characters and adorable cats. And a salt and pepper mustache. Oh my.

My recent favorite is the Meg Langslow series by Donna Andrews. She concocts some hilarious situations!

Also, in the humorous category, The Miss Julia series by Ann Ross, and Rita Mae Brown and Sneaky Pie Brown's Mrs. Murphy series.

The Ann Charles "Deadwood" books are somewhat funny. Also, I enjoyed the Sarah Strohmeyer "Bubbles Yablonsky" books (the ones I've read). And I've always found the Agatha Raisin series by M.C. Beaton pretty funny. Poor Agatha gets herself into some messes!

One of the most charming books I've ever read is Christopher Morley's The Haunted Bookshop (1919).

I have read loved this book as well. :)

I liked the books of Alan Bradley, Lilian Jackson Braun and Rita Mae Brown and recommend them as well.
