She was the first woman to win a Pulitzer, yet she seems to be ignored or forgotten in English classes. Why is that?

Like Jane Austen she criticized the social structure around her, in Wharton's case it was the New England upper class of the Gilded Age.

Wharton also wrote about her travels in Europe and wrote about interior design.

Anyone else read any by Wharton? What did you think of it?
