i do love it when you can see the characters come to life and compare the characters of the minds creation with those on the screen.

I just completed Pride and Prejudice. I found it enjoyable and hope to read a lot more of her work. I have been lazy about reading Jane Austen because I have had the disadvantage of seeing the movies made from her books. It was, however, very nice to watch the movie version once more after finishing the book and find that there were no major differences. In fact, reading the book then re-watching the movie added depth to the movie.

I've read a few of her books and have found Pride and Prejudice to be the most enjoyable. Her clever wit is most apparent in that book.

I actually like Jane Austen. I found that her books were a bit tough to read if I had recently read something a bit more fast paced or intriguing. Once I slowed down and accepted a different pace, I found I enjoyed Austen's writing. It took me several attempts to get into Pride and Prejudice but once I did, I loved it. I went on to read all the spin-offs I could find that were based on Pride and Prejudice.

Jane Austen is my go to when i want books from an other era, she has a way of writing that will bring tears to your eyes.

Mansfield park was a very easy read compared to her other novels (except Pride and Prejudice of course!)

Hey there! New to the forum. I just want to start off by saying I LOVE Pride and Prejudice. I went in thinking it was going to be stuffy and boring, but, I was totally wrong! Of course, I enjoy Downton Abbey from time to time so that might have had an influence. I found the parents to be especially hilarious.

I don't know much about her. Just started reading Pride and Prejudice. But i found her writing style quite linear. Which sometimes bore me, but maybe as i go on, the story tend to get better. It can't be that famous if it doesn't.

I liked the story after I got into it. But I have always loved older stories with different era's. Pride and Prejudice seemed a little faster moving to me. Maybe start there instead. Couldn't stand Mansfield Park though!

Reading Mansfield Park at the moment, so far so good; what was it you disliked about it?

I totally adore Jane Austen. When I first started reading it took a bit of time to get used to the language but you really do get the hang of it and it's completely worth it. Persuasion and Mansfield Park are my favorites-- the movie adaptions of both aren't too tragic either.

Jane Austen is one of my favorite authors. Pride and Prejudice is my top favorite! I did find Sense and Sensibility harder to get into though, it just didn't flow like Pride and Prejudice did.
