I've never really gotten into his books but my best friend's mom absolutely loves them. I'm pretty sure she has like every single one of his books.

Stephen King and I have a love/hate relationship.

I love reading his books, but I almost always dislike the endings.

For example, I LOVED The Gunslinger series but HATED, hated the ending.

But I always buy his newest book and add it to my shelf.

My other faves are:
Cell
Salems Lot
Cycle of the Werewolf
Misery

I'm new here but Stephen King is one of my favorite authors. I would say that Christine and Cujo started it all for me and then, after seeing the movie, The Shining, I haven't been able to let go of Stephen King. Sure, some of his books leave something to desire but I read them just the same. I had trouble reading The Langoliers. Maybe because it was so long.

Are all movie adaptations of his material, not as good as the books? In fact are not even that great as a movie itself?
Is it his stories don't execute well on screen, or is it the producers that can't bring out his vision?

I usually feel that the movies are never like the books totally. I usually don't like the movies as well as the books. Not sure, but I just don't think they get the deep down of the books.

I've seen some that were equally good. "The Fault In Our Stars" was I think, better than the book. "The Fantastic Mr. Fox" too, but that's about it.

Wow, that's a tough one! My suggestion would be either Salem's Lot or Pet Cemetery. If you've seen those movies, you know what the plots are about, but the books are so much better than the movies!

I think I started with a couple of the books Stephen King wrote under the pen name Richard Bachman, Thinner and The Long Walk. I personally do not think you can go wrong with Stephen King, though, so any book is a great start!

It depends on which genre you're looking for. I really like The Shining, but The Stand is also very good.

I’ve both read the book and watched the movie and although the movie was pretty good I’ve got to say the book was so much better! This is one of my favorites!!

Yes, very true. I haven't read many of his books, but the ones Inhave read Inhave enjoyed. I have various ones on my bookshelf at home. I have seen more of his movies. Gotta read. :techie-studyingbrown:
