I had to read Things Fall Apart at three very different times in my life: high school, a non western lit class in college, and one of my capstone seminars in college. My appreciation for the book increased each time.
I've also read his criticism of Heart of Darkness a few times, and it's very good.

I have read his book Anthills Of Savannah. Its a very good book portraying neocolonialism in Africa which is something annoying since it's something truly happening. When reading it I was like this book should be read in high school so that people should vote wisely since some people may not have a chance to go to higher level of education so as to read it since many people don't have the interest of reading novels and this is the knowledge that they need.

I have read several of his books. My first was "The Concubine". He is a contemporary of the famous Kenyan author Ngugi wa Thiong'o.

He remains one of Africa's greatest sons. His style of writing will blow your mind, his poetry too. Most of his works is on the effect the white colonialists had on black Africa, and all are incredibly well written.

The two are legends in writing. Not forgetting John Kiriamiti and his book My life as a criminal

I know of Chinua Achebe because I majored in literature, but my knowledge is extremely limited. The intentional parallels between Things Fall Apart and Conrad's Heart of Darkness are so interesting.

I also know that the title "Things Fall Apart" comes from the poem "The Second Coming" by W. B. Yeats. It is such a powerful line that I got a tattoo of it ("Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold").

He's amazing, I've read most of his books. When you talk African literature he's the father. Everyone should read Things Fall Apart and Arrow of God

Wow, you must be the real deal. I am Nigerian (Chinua Achebe's home country), he was a favorite son in his lifetime and even after. He had issues with our Governments mainly on their lack of responsibility. Unfortunately for us he had an auto accident in the early nineties and spent the rest of his life from thereon till his death in the US. He is one of Nigeria's most celebrated icon.
