Beam Stroker and Anne Rice are responsible for creating the vampire as we know it today. In ancient times vampires were described more like zombies, they were dead corpses that rose to suck the life out of the living. The suave alluring and complex vampire we recognize today can primarily be attested to Bram Strocker and Anne Rice, so for a thesis, either author would be perfect!

Hi everyone I am new to this site . My favorite author of a Vampire fiction is......Lara Adrian I love the midnight breed series. The first book I read of hers is Kiss of Crimson. Once I pick up the books in this series I can't put them down. I love that these books have both action and romance. I suggest everyone should try to read this series.

Anne Rice is definitely on top with Stephen King coming in a close second. Anne Bishop and M.J. Scott have told some good stories as well, but they tend to lean on the romantic.

Anne Rice tops the list. She started my love for vampires. I love the Undead series by MaryJanice Davidson. Kim Harrison has a great series that includes vampires, witches, faeries etc.

I enjoyed 'Interview with a Vampire' by Anne Rice. Then I read Bram Stoker's Dracula and I enjoyed it even more. They are the two best author of vampire fiction for me.

Elizabeth Kostova's novel The Historian is an absolutely excellent novel about vampires. It's very rich in history and lore, and it takes the reader on a journey through Europe like no other!

I do enjoy Charlaine Harris. I've been reading the Sookie Stackhouse series, but she has other vampire series I believe. There is a new show on NBC based on them called Midnight, Texas. Anne Rice is probably a really obvious answer, but when most people think of the vampire fiction genre, she is the first author to come to mind, other than maybe Bram Stoker.

I enjoy Charlene Harris's books also but I would also add Laurel K Hamilton's Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series as a good one to read. It does however have more sex than needed in some of the books.

I haven't read many books in the vampire genre but Bram Stoker and Anne Rice are the best of the ones I have read.

I don't have a favorite vampire author because the only vampire series I have read is The Twilight Saga than I felt like everyone else that wrote about vampires was copying her so I just couldn't get myself to continue reading vampire stories.

Anne Rice is the best in my opinion. Her stories make you feel like you've been to the places she describes and the characters are very well developed.

The central idea of Count Dracula is a brilliant notion, the rest of Bram Stoker's book shows it age unfortunately and has pacing issues. Twilight ruined vampire fiction for everyone and, if you tell someone you're into vampires, it's usually met with a groan now and a rant about how much they hate Twilight. The likes of Stephen King and Anne Rice don't need any help selling books. We should be finding new authors with great novels who need a break and get drowned out by the big guns. I'd tell you the best vampire book I've ever read, but I'd be accused of promotion and this post wouldn't be allowed on the website.
