There's no doubt in my mind that Ellen Hopkins is hands-down the best YA writer. Her books are not only formatted and written different than mainstream novels, but she's not afraid to cover difficult, uncomfortable issues.

The Lunar Chronicles is my favorite! I have to rate Meyer as one of my favorites, along with Megan McCafferty (she borders between Young Adult and New Adult as her Jessica Darling series follows the title character for about 10 years), and... this is totally a guilty pleasure... Sara Shepard. I started Pretty Little Liars years before the show was aired and I devoured each entry the day it was released. I have never been so thankful for a series to be completed, but gosh those books are so much fun!

The Inheritance series by Christopher Paolini. He was a YA writing for YA.

Richelle Mead’s Bloodlines and Vampire Academy series are some of my favorites. Sarah Dessen is great for romances. And I’ve just started getting into E Lockhart’s books for intriguing mysteries.

Tamora Pierce is my favorite. She's the reason why I love to read! Her books are the first books I read for fun instead of as an assignment.

I love Rainbow Rowell's books. She has fun characters and unique plot lines in her books, though she does use many of the YA cliches.

Well I don't think I have a favorite but if I have to choose maybe Cassandra Clare, the mortal instruments series has managed to have me obsessed over the past five/six years

Anthony Horowitz wrote one of my favourite Sherlock Holmes inspired novels, 'The House of Silk' and my brother enjoyed reading his novels.
If J.K. Rowling is classed as YA, she would be top as well for me. :)

There are so many to pick from. I have to say as I get older I think that my favorite YA author is Sarah J Maas but Rick Riordan, Marie Lu, and Marissa Meyer are certainly up there.

Suzanne Collins. This may be a little cliche. But boy are those books brilliant.

Paul Hoffman has really caught my interest over the past few years. His earlier works I wasn't too interested in, but The Left Hand Of God trilogy really blew me away!

Hi! I have to say my favourite YA authors are Karen McCombie (not sure if you would class her work as children’s or young adult but the characters I’ve read about are often in their teens) and Holly Black (her fantasy stuff to do with goblins, trolls and faeries could easily be “fluffy” in the wrong hands but the way she does it, it really isn’t. She makes it dark and twisted and cool.)

I really like Kiera Cass. I got hooked on her Selection series a couple years ago. When I finished that set of books, I went looking for more of hers. Even though I was hesitant about reading The Siren, I actually enjoyed it, and I'm planning to try any other books she publishes.
