Jack London, I remember reading the abridged classic at around 4-5 years old "The Call of the Wild" and from that moment forward I have never been able to find a medium which I enjoyed nearly as much as reading.

R.L. Stine. I was reading Fear Street as a kid--not Goosebumps. I grew up on Fear Street. Horror and thrillers stuck with me ever since.

I've always loved to read, whether it was books or magazines, or writing/making up my own stories. But, I think it was Dragonlance by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman that really got me hooked (into a series, anyway). Of course, any book that involved horses or dragons when I was a kid had me hooked.

I preferred her fantasy ones, The Wishing Chair & The Faraway Tree - those books were so hugely imaginative :)

Roald Dahl is definitely another one in that category for me. After reading George's Marvellous Medicine I was rifling through my mum's kitchen cupboards for weeks heheh.

As a very young child, I read the The Miss Flora McFlimsey books by Mariana with my mother. They ignited a fire within my soul for reading that has never wavered.

I don't really have a certain author that got me into reading, because I was always just into reading (if that makes any sense). I believe that the library in general is what got me into reading. I don't know why, but every time I go to the library, there's always a book I want to read. I can't leave the library without checking out a book (or multiple books).

My brother had a closet full of science fiction paperbacks. I read them all. Authors were unimportant but Asimov stands out as one I remember. Reading has always been an avocation for me.
