Roald Dahl

Post by Taylor Razzani »

Since The BFG is coming to theaters soon I've been wanting to dive back into Mr. Dahl's books. What are some of your favorites? My all time favorite was The Witches, I couldn't get enough of that one.

I don't think I ever read James and the Giant Peach for some unknown reason. I loved the movie so I'm not too sure what happened there. Of course, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a classic! I just recently re-read that one :)

Our family loves Roald Dahl! We bought a set of Roald Dahl books for the girls earlier this year - and have enjoyed all of the stories. The BFG is currently in our nightly rotation, as well as the Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Twits, James and the Giant Peach and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The girls really loved Matilda too.

Dahl's imagination and writing makes reading the books aloud fun for the whole family.

I loved Ronald Dahl as a kid! I'm not sure why I haven't read any of this books to my daughters yet. I'd better get on that. I think my favorite was Matilda.

That's awesome that the whole family enjoys him :D He seems like a good fit for adults and children to enjoy.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, then Matilda. Dahl's books are just real fun to read and simply enjoyable. Maybe I'll get to read his other titles another time.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is absolutely my favorite! I love Willy Wonka and his quirky way in teaching kids to not be snobs, greedy, gross, and rely on the TV as a friend. It was a great read aloud for my summer school kids. They had as much fun as I did! :)

Matilda!!!

That was the first book to get me hooked on reading. All of his books are wonderful though. My second favorite is probably The Witches.

Roald Dahl is awesome! Some of my favorites would have to be The Witches (which I have read multiple times) and Matilda (which is currently standing at 6 reads)!

My first exposure to Dahl was in the 5th grade, my teacher used to actually read them out loud to the class. I remember thinking we are too old for you to read to us...but then so many of us fell in love with the Dahl books that she read to us (James and the Giant Peach, BFG, Charles and the Chocolate Factory and Matilda. I have to admit, after reading someone else's post, I too have not read them aloud to my girls. I believe he will be our next author!

My personal favorite has to be The Twits. I loved how Roald Dahl describes their appearances as a child. They were just described as being so gross!
