J.R.R Tolkien. His work is amazing. It can be difficult to read at times but it is so worth it.

I constantly recommend James Patterson. It doesnt matter what genre you like to resd. He probably has three books written in that genre. He's s genius.

I have to completely agree with you! He has written in so many genres. I recently finished his YA series Maximum Ride. It was an okay series for me, but I would rate it high for a Middle School YA reader. James Patterson tends to know exactly how to write for the genre and age group he's working towards. I like that he isn't too complicated for his young readers, but knows how to engage his older readers as well. Amazing author.

I always recommend Madeline Hunter and Sylvain Reynard because they have the full package. By “full package” I mean that while you are reading there are moments when you laugh, you cry, the adrenaline kicks in and it’s full of surprises until the last chapter :D

I have two authors that I would recommend, Keri Arthur and Karen Marie Moning. Both authors write paranormal and urban fantasy. I have read and own all of their books. Keri Arthur's Riley Jenson Guardian series is what got me back into reading. Also, Karen Marie Moning's Fever series will leave you begging for more. If anyone is interested both series are finished and out for purchase.

Two top faves are Tamora Pierce and Mercedes Lackey (earlier writings). Their fantasy genre books always pull me into the magical kingdoms they create, and their character development is always fascinating. I fall in love with each series.

Of course, JK Rowling has joined this elite group with the Harry Potter series. Since most people are familiar with this author and her books, it is rather ridiculous to even mention but I'm a big Potter-fan!

Seanan McGuire, aka Mira Grant.
Her writing, under either name, always feels like coming home to me.

:x :) I read Edith Pargeter's The Heaven Tree Trilogy in high school, and it is probably the reason I started thinking about my own writing more seriously My recommendation Mary Higgins Clark to anyone who wants to read a good mystery

You know how "Gone Girl" has this sticker that reads "this is a book you'll be begging people to read just so you can discuss it with someone" well... I CAN'T shut up about Gillian Flynn eversince I read it.
