I have the same problem, I have a problem with authors AND with book titles! Forget trying to write them down though, it would take just as long to look through the list! I do hate it though when the author changes the name of the book for overseas sales, and it is the same one you have on your shelf, but you buy it thinking its new!

I am guilty of this as well. I can usually remember plots and characters but the author's name sometimes escapes me.

I am also terrible at recalling authors and titles, and being able to tell the story. :) Too, I have tried lists, and when I go to consult it, find I do not know which notebook I wrote it in, or piece of paper I wrote it on.

Oh, all the time! It's so much easier for me to remember characters and plots than authors and titles, which usually results in people giving me strange looks whenever I ask whether they remember a book.

I used to be bad but I'm getting better since I moved my book case . Now because I walk past it all the time, the names have ingrained in my head :p

I have an impeccable memory, for ultimately usesless sh*t!
I've never been able to remember names. Or they'll float in and out of my consciousness, teasing me, but never any closer than the tip of my tongue when I'm in need of them.

Are you kidding? At my age it's all I can do to remember my phone number.

Lol!! I am the exact same way. I usually only remember an author if I have read several of their books or if I can't stand them.

Sadly yes, I am guilty of not remembering an author's name. Even when I really enjoy the books and want to read other books by that author, I find myself having to go back to the last book and locating their name.
I am really trying to remember the names better as I teach Language Arts to fifth graders and frequently make suggestions for students on books to read.

Generally I only remember the names of authors that I've read a lot of books by and the authors of most of the classic books I've read.
I think the thing that sticks in my head the most is the plot and then the title of the book. Although sometimes I can remember the plot but I can't remember the ending or the ending is all I can remember.

Some authors I can remember, but the majority I usually have a hard time recalling. Nothing against the authors of course, my memory is just the worst!

I'm horrible at names in general so authors are always escaping me. I have utilized the goodreads app and just writing them down so I can remember who I've read when going to the store.

*raises hand*

It takes me several books for the author to sound familiar, and a few more for me to remember the author. Which is why blogging helps - I have a place to search through and see what I've read :p

It kind of depends for me. If I really liked the book, or it was really popular, I can remember the name. But there are some authors I get mixed up with each other. For example, I always seem to get Richelle Mead and Stephanie Meyer mixed up. I know they both write books about vampires, so that is probably why.
