Definitely Khaled Hosseini, his book "A Thousand Splendid Suns" is written simply yet beautifully, in such a way that you become absorbed in the story.

If I could take a writing class I would like to sit under Davis Bunn. I see him as a good model to learn from because I appreciate his writing craft and ability to make the read pause and think.

Agatha Christie. She started the whole mystery thing for me; made me fall in love with solving crimes. It would be an honour to be tutored by her. I'd love to be tutored by Patricia Cornwell and John Grisham as well. I so love them.

As for me, I have preference for Joyce Carol and Stephen King. They are fascinating and grammatical.

It would be Salmaan Rushdie and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle for me. They are great writers, each of them having distinctive writing style, that makes it thoroughly enjoying all the way.

If we are talking about live authors, probably Brandon Sanderson. He teaches a class on writing, so I expect his experience to count for something. Teaching writing is pretty different from just being able to write well which is why experience is important.

Dead: Alexandre Dumas. Count of Monte Cristo remains one of my all-time favorites

If I could take a writing class from any author, my picks would be two authors who have passed. The first one being Sir Arthur Conan Doyle because I love his Sherlock Holmes books and his genius allows these stories to keep being relevant. The second one is Edgar Allen Poe because I also love many of the stories that he has written and the suspense he employs keeps me on the edge of my seat.

JK Rowling. I just love the way the Harry Potter series was written, and I am curious to know how she organized all of the details within these books. J.R.R Tolkien would be my other choice.

I would no doubt take writing classes by Margaret Peterson Haddix. Her writing style is so unique, and she has a way of engaging her readers until the very end of her books. She is also very creative. Taking classes from her would no doubt increase my writing skills and increase my chances of being a successful writer.

I personally love the writing style of Khaled Hossieni and GRRM. With Hossieni, he just lays down the simplest of things in such effective manner. Heart-touching. And GRRM is awesome at creating such detailed imagery of things you haven't ever seen before. The combination of these two will do the trick for me.

I hear you both. I haven't read any Hossieni but your comments are giving me the itch lol!

BTW, GRRM is? I might want to look him up as well.

Thanks!

I like Sanderson's writings. It is nice to know that fantasy has some substance.
