J. R. R. Tolkien and Stephen King. They are both fantastic authors that left legacies behind, and I think they have more they could have offered the world.

I think it would have to be Brian Jacques. I loved his books as a kid. He seemed like such a super nice guy.

I think it would be awesome to bring back any of the authors of classic novels, such as Jane Austen or Tolstoy. I would love to see all the wisdom they would give out and specially Tolstoy, how he would analyze our world today and what philosophic musings he would have.

Andrew Greeley...he wrote the amazing Bishop Blackie Ryan mystery series about a Roman Catholic cleric who solves mysteries...but the series never had a true ending because he died! Now we'll never know what he meant to happen!

I'd forgotten about Greeley until you mentioned him. I did enjoy several of his books, many moons ago.

Hmm this is a tough one. I think I'd bring back either Tolstoy or Edgar Allen Poe.

If I could bring back an author from the dead, I would bring back "Tolkien". Tolkien's Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit are really five thumbs up if there is such. I want this author back from the dead because I would like to ask how did this author thought of those creatures how were they given each detailed description.

I have to agree with you about Jane Austen. Her novels hold a special place in my heart (especially "Pride and Prejudice"). I can only imagine how shocked she would be by how different the world is now!
