In high school, I mainly had two favourite authors: Enid Blyton and R.L Stine. So combined stories about brownies, pixies and horror.

In high school it was Stephen King. It's funny because now I can't stand to read about or watch anything scary. I'm easily spooked.

I did not have a favorite in high school, that I can remember. A few times I fell out of reading, and when I was reading, I was experimenting with different genres. If I had to pick one, I would go with Jane Austen.

My favorite author in high school was definitely Christopher Paolini.
His Inheritance cycle taught me a lot and was exactly the escape I was looking for at that age.
Beautiful books.

In high school, my favorite author was Anne McCaffrey. Now, I've read to many great authors to narrow it down to just one.

I really enjoyed Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Ken Kesey in high school. They were the authors of the books that I was reading in my junoir year English class (A Farewell to Arms, The Great Gatsby, and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest). Even though I have always loved reading young adult novels, the classics were more my area of interest in high school since so much more emphasis was placed on my homework and studying.

I read most of Twain's works in late elementary, early middle school. I didn't get a lot of the nuances and sociological themes he brings out in his work then but when I re-read them in my early twenties, much of it made much more sense.
Life without a good book is something MrsCatInTheHat cannot imagine.

My taste in authors varied in high school almost as much as it does today. I liked Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Edgar Allen Poe, Louisa May Alcott, Agatha Christie, and Lewis Carroll. I really liked the book that King wrote for his kid, Dragon Eyes, I believe as it was not his usual type of book. I would recommend that all of his fans read it as it really gives another insight into this author.
