I do adore the Hitchhiker's Guide though. Clever and witty. I also love Christopher Moore. He's a riot. Bloodsucking Fiends is a good first read, or the Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove.

You know what it is? He has some great parts in his novels- like Running with Scissors- but then he drops his great prose to get back to his negative turned good pedactics. I think he should stick with his good prose. I like it when he's on, he's just not on enough for me. I'm picky.alisonaston wrote:Don't worry I didn't take it personally, but wow, Mr (A) Burroughs certainly isn't very popular on here. I like him because he's turned his negative life experience into something positive. What's more, he's also able to laugh about it. I like his understated style and found him a breath of fresh air from some of the more 'aren't I clever' pretentious writers out there. It made a nice change, but obviously he can't please everyone!
