I LOVE Beverly Cleary! Her characters are so endearing. I read them in first grade, I read them in sixth grade. It's hard for children's authors to be accessible to an age group range, but Cleary does it with ease. I adore Ramona Quimby, I named my dog after her!

off the top of my head, lauren child. her books always had a cosy, innocent feel to them and i appreciated the collage art. even today, i'll sometimes curl into one when adult life looks too bleak. another would be roald dahl, no book was similar to another and wildly exciting. i used to love jacqueline wilson but then found them repetitive

My all time favorite in elementary school was Mary Pope Osborne of the Magic Tree House series. I also loved to read the books by Shel Silverstein, the Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister, Dr. Suess, I read Go Ask Alice and A Child Called “It” in 6th grade. In middle school I moved on to Harry Potter Series, Percy Jackson Series, Perfect Chemistry, Pride & Prejudice and Twilight. I can’t remember any others that stand out.

Lucy Maude Montgomery, Roald Dahl, Laura Ingalls Wilder, C. S. Lewis. So much nostalgia. There's a 99.9% possibility that Laura Ingalls Wilder gave me my dreams of a cabin hidden in forest fog. I'll never stop loving the Narnia series, I'll never stop loving Matilda or James and the Giant Peach. I am and always will be Anne of Green Gables. These authors absolutely made my childhood.

I had totally forgotten about Beverly Cleary!! I loved her so much, I read so many of her books throughout fifth grade. She was one of my favorites. I haven't thought of her in literally decades. Thank you for reminding me how great she was :))

Hands down, my favourite children's author is Jacqueline Wilson, and to this day I still own a copy of her book Candyfloss despite my younger self having drawn in it, and it's condition is beyond damaged from multiple moves and uncountable reads. I just can't bare to chuck that book out. Wilson's books have serious topics written in them, but are wrote for children in mind. I.E Abusive Dad, Single Dad, Abandoned as a Child, Living in a Care Home and more that I can't think of off the top of my head. But I've loved her writing for as long as I could possibly remember, and probably always will tbh!

Mo Willems is our kids favorite. From Piggie and Elephant to Knuffle Bunny, he is a regular nightly bedtime author. I love that his language is simple enough that my seven year old can read them to my three year old. :)

When I was young I loved Gerald Durrell’s books. For my own children, I loved Julia Donaldson. Although we read many, many other authors works too, those two have to be my favorites.
