I actually find Beatrix Potter to be a very good children's book author, and illustrator. I find her especially impressive because she is both and her original books were self published. My favorite book that I have read of hers so far is Peter Rabbit.

Definitely L.M. Montgomery. Anne of Green Gables is one of the few series that I will sit down and reread regularly.

I'm not a child anymore but reading Chris Colfer's books make want to be a little kid again just to have that magic at a young age.

I have always liked Dr. Seuss. No particular reason. They just appeal to me. Like Green Eggs and Ham.

Yes, J.K Rowling- She knows that how to connect a story, every point, every chapter is good and she knows that how to create protagonist(Child) and Antagonist- it;s really super- I like this author and give 4 out of 4 to her series - Harry Pottar.
Thanks.

So difficult to pick one. It'd probably come down to Andrew Clements because I really liked Lunch Money and The Report Card. Albeit most know him for Frindle.

After him, I like Roald Dahl, Louis Sachar, Judy Blume, JK Rowling, and Jerry Spinelli. But it can flip flop depending on the day.

I always had a thing for Eric Carle, but as of now, it has to be Lemony Snicket. No doubt.

I was brought up on the Beatrix Potter books and, while they're certainly a bit dated now, I'll definitely be reading them to my son in due course. Beautifully illustrated & stories that really fed my imagination as a kid.
Mrs Tiggy-Winkle was always my favourite :)

The other childrens authors who stand out for me are Enid Blyton, Roald Dahl & Jean de Brunhoff (of Babar fame).

My favorite children's authors are Roald Dahl, Judy Blume, Dr. Seuss, and of course Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I also enjoyed many Beverly Cleary books like Beezus and Ramona. All of these posts reminded me of all of the authors that I have grown up with. I also agree that one of my favorite children's books was Stellaluna especially because of the beautiful illustrations.

Thanks to my daughter, I've been introduced to Jacqueline Wilson and Jenny Valentine. I recommend both for excellently crafted plots and imaginative main characters. They also tackle social issues head on. Another great one is Anne Fine.
