Same here. I do not know Lemony Snicket but I do like R.L Stine. In fact I still read his books. :)

As a child, I loved Marguerite Henry. As a young horse lover (old horse lover now), I loved all things horsey. I was able to experience horses vicariously through her books. I recently retired as a school media coordinator. I predominately worked at the 6-12 level. However, now, I am in my dream job! I am working part time at a university in the School of Education Children's Library and getting to reacquaint myself with the K-6 books. With that said....can't pick a favorite!

Roald Dahl would have to be my favourite, closely followed by Andy Griffiths.

After 32 years of service as a children's librarian and in retirement, a reviewer of children's books since 1999, I should have found an author I cannot live without, but I haven't. There are many "senior" authors who are some of my favorites, Richard Peck, Judy Blume, Beverly Cleary but there are so many new, talented authors that it is hard to pick a favorite. In recent years, I was long enamored with the author of the "Miss Spider" books for young readers. The attention to detail between the illustrations and the accompanying text, as well as the fabulous colors won me over as an adult in my sixth decade. Couldn't wait to show it to my young friends. What a treat to get to share those books out loud to young audiences.

Shel Silverstein. I used to read these books as a child. I truly thought they were very interesting, unique, and your imagination could wander. They were very captivating to me as a child.

As a young child, my first favorite author was Judy Blume. I remember the school librarian reading her books, and became interested enough to check out everything the school had. She was great at making books come alive.

My most recent favorite would probably be J.K. Rowling. I first read her books in my 20s. I was staying back at home when i borrowed my little sister's boxed set and devoured the first four or five books in a few days. Then impatiently waited for her to make more....

Of course I do! I LOVED the Berenstain Bear books when I was young! So I would have to say Stan and Jan Berenstain!

A favorite author I always had as a younger kid was Mark Crilley. He wrote a series of science fiction stories about a young girl named Akiko who went on adventures through space, and they were awesome.

Along with my all time favorite, Dr. Seuss, I would also have to name Eric Carle. I hope one day I can visit his museum as well.
