What is your opinion on Stephenie Meyer?

I loved the books throughout middle school, but now that I look back on them, they really are lacking quite a bit. I don't appreciate them much now as it's pretty clear that the relationships between Bella/Edward and Bella/Jacob are manipulative and abusive and just all around harmful. The books themselves aren't written well, though I did enjoy The Host. I think Stephanie Meyer just needs to mature her writing a bit and research healthy relationships.

I'm starting to wonder where she has disappeared to because she hasn't released anything in quite a while. I don't mind her as an author and like most I was obsessed with her books as a young teenager but I simply outgrew them.

I loved the Twilight series but I read The Host and I did not even finish it. I really did not like it. I think she should stick to Twilight type books. I havent heard anything about her recently. Is she coming out with anything new?

Her books are good when you're about eleven but after that they start to get a bit clichéd.

I think she did a wonderful job with hooking her targeted audience. She had a mystical story line and made it easy to paint your own picture of what was happening through the eyes of the characters. I'd have to say that The Host was better than the Twilight saga.

Her novel The Host was incredible and the movie did a very good job portraying the book.

I will totally admit I jumped on the Twilight bandwagon full swing! From midnight premiers to a twilight themed bedroom I definitely could have been classified as a "twi-hard". That being said The Host was by far Stephanie Meyers best book. The Twilight series is very unchallenging, but I think Mrs. Meyer is a great YA author.

I loved the Twilight Saga. No embarrassment what so ever about it. That series actually brought me back into being a big reader. I think Stephenie is a decent writer that gets too much "hate" for starting a worldwide phenomenon.

I don't like the Twilight series as a whole but I do like her other book, The Host. It's a fun story and the movie is pretty good too. I think it's great that she kept writing and it's successful but I loathe the way she writes Bella as such a weak character, so dependent on Edward and almost losing herself when he abandons her. Bella is also just annoying and self centered. I don't like the way Stephanie Meyer stooped writing the series from Edward's POV because it was leaked online.

I feel that, while her stories are... strange and her characters poorly formed, her actually TALENT as a writer is strong. She writes very well and has a lot of potential. Her only downfall is in the personality of her books.

I do feel bad that twilight got so popular and so hyped and then became to universally hated. Because I think that must be such a hard blow to her as an author and as a person. It seems sometimes people tend to forget that there is an actual person creating these things and that "hating" something so openly, especially when it becomes almost cool to dislike something, can really hurt the author. I'd like to see her continue to write and to hone her skill and see how she develops as an author.

I read all of her books, and although I did like all of them, I agree that they are a bit lacking. I got a bit tired of the whining that some of her characters seemed to have and that made getting through the books a bit tough. The story ideas have a lot of potential, but maybe need some guidance.

I think the level of success she achieved as a first-time writer with the "Twilight" series was unbelievable. That was quite an undertaking with four lengthy novels, complex plot, a myriad of characters, and all for a mom that just decided to write a dream she'd had. That, alone, is impressive. I think she gets a lot of harsh criticism for her writing style - some would call it, simplistic - but, bear in mind, "Twilight" was a Young Adult series. Many don't realize that, because it spanned outside its intended audience and adults of all ages were reading it. But, it was written with teenagers in mind, and in that respect, I think the writing is on par for the level. I did not read "The Host," which I believe was geared for a more mature audience, so I'm not sure how that compares.

One thing I love about Stephanie Meyer is her use of good grammar! I also found her to be very successful in telling the story. While reading the Twilight series, I was never confused or suddenly wondering what was going on. My favorite book by her is The Host, which is one of my favorite books of all time. I know Stephanie Meyer gets a bad rap because the Twilight movies sucked, but I just love her!

I liked her books when I was younger. I would have to reread them to see if they still appealed to me.
