Tracey Neal wrote:I absolutely LOVE medieval literature, I'm very fond of The Pilgrim's Regress...despite the fact many critics gave it poor reviews. C.S.Lewis is amazing :) These are all wonderful reads :)
Tracey took the words out of my mouth. I just want t add that I especially love Mere Christianity and all of his essays. Letters to Malcom and A Grief Observed are also personal favorites of mine.

You know, I have actually never read this series. I have always wanted to but I have just never gotten around to it. I actually own the books though, so one of these days I am just going to have to break down and read them because I get the feeling that I am really going to enjoy them.

There is much more to Lewis than Narnia. But when we start at Narnia we begin with his best. Lewis writes for us all to think about the reality of Mere Christianity. We are also challenged to know with him that we have never met a mere mortal. Lewis will live in literature for a long time!

I love Narnia! It's so wonderful and brings out the child in me. <3

I might be stoned to death here for saying that I haven't actually read any of the Narnia books. But I have read through Screwtape Letters and found it to be both spiritually and intellectually satisfying!

You will be surprised at the depth of Narnia. If Screwtape Letters is about a demon constructed by Lewis, than it should be no surprise for you to meet Aslan.

I love the Chronicles of Narnia! They are so well written and spellbinding. They are also complex and full of emotion. I bawled throughout the last in the series.

I would venture to say that Lewis was my "jumping off" point for fantasy reading.

That said, I wouldn't reach for him if I would go for theology (For that, I'm more likely to grab either R.C. Sproul, Sr. or J.I. Packer.) and, in Mere Christianity, he points out that he wasn't writing for the theologian in mind.
