From me as well. I started reading Harry Potter when I was seventeen and Rowling opened a whole new world for me.

But I saw this book, the Bed and Breakfast Star, and I thought the cover was colourful and pretty, and it seemed like a funny read. 9 year old me was HOOKED - I went and read practically every book by Jacqueline Wilson after that, spent more and more time at the local library until other popular children's books eventually wormed their way to me: Percy Jackson, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Harry Potter, Tom Gates.
