"Thin Places"

Post by Fransiscan43 »

This mystery novel is a quick read and is fairly predictable. I was excited by the title which comes from Celtic folklore and as a Celt was a little disappointed that it barely touches on this theme. I think the ending, with the appearance of Calvery, could have been left out and just a hint of the supernatural more believable. At times there was, for me, difficulty in identifying the narrator; on a couple of occasions it slips between first and third person and it took me a moment to realise that the person narrating had been shifted.
Having said all this I think it a good first novel with well-defined characters and look forward to Prettyman's next novel.
Thanks.

I agree it was a quick read - didn't require a lot of thinking about what was going to happen next.
