I can't seem to make the bold or italic function work. I even checked instructions for doing this on my phone since my computer doesn't work and those instructions don't seem to be working either. My review is done except for this detail. What do I do?

The first post of this thread explains it and provides examples of what it should look like before submitting the post, and this thread is specifically for practicing it. :tiphat:

I am having issues with how to technically bold and italicize words. I have a MacBook Air, and am keyboarding straight into the forum, not in a Word document, so am not sure how to implement these font styles.

Would I simply input (b) just before text I want bold, and (i) just before text I want italicized?

Okay this is what happens---
bold. [\b] bold nothing!
italic. [\i] italic. Nothing!

bold. italic Nothing again!

Any suggestions?

Your first closing code, you've put \ instead of /

Then, when you do put /, it's in the wrong place.

If you quote yourself, you'll see what I mean. :tiphat:

Thankyou so much for the guidance for putting the codes wrongly and too many of them. But i have previewed before submitting if i don't put them after every paragraph they just not follow them any more! I have to put them in the beginning and ending both otherwise my text gets bold and italicised! I shall try your way in my next review for another update. Thanks alot for the help.

Scott wrote: 07 Jan 2018, 14:54 The Review Team Guidelines require putting book titles in italic print and putting the rating in bold print.

-----

To make text bold, you have to use the following code:

Code: Select all

Regular text. [b]Text you want bold.[/b] Regular text.
The above will display as follows:
Regular text. Text you want bold. Regular text.

-----

Similarly, to make text italic, you use the following code:

Code: Select all

Regular text. [i]Text you want italic.[/i] Regular text.
The above will display as follows:
Regular text. Text you want italic. Regular text.
----

If you are having trouble making text display as bold or italic, please reply to this topic explaining your problem and include following example sentence: "Regular text. Bold text. Regular text." Try to make the words "bold text" bold. This way I can see exactly what you are doing and why it is not working for you.
I am confused on how to make the author's name in italics and make the rating of the book in bold.
"Author's name. italic text. Author's name."
"3 out 4. bold text. 3 out of 4."
