Ability To Request "First Ten" Denial Review

Post by MsTri »

I already know that one only has 24 hours to complete their 'First Ten' review, but I would still like to opportunity to request a review of any rejections, just like we can request a review when a review is scored in a manner we don't agree with. If the writer is correct, they get credit for the response, as long as it was submitted on time. Otherwise, the rejection stands.

That's an interesting idea.
Some members have done so via the contact link, but a button might work. :eusa-think:

Personally, I'd just like the option to edit any rejected reviews. Even if it meant I had to reread the first ten.

When it started, it was only supposed to be a few sentences, but that doesn't seem to cut it any longer, and I wonder if (and how many) past reviews will wind up rejected.

A button is a good idea.

I don't think it is fair to reject past reviews as the rules were different then. Also, we got paid for them already, so there is no sense in checking them. @"Scott" ?

I never even realized it changed!

I never tended to answer the review question, because I don't read reviews unless I'm interested in the book (at least since I stopped entering the giveaways).

I haven't had any rejected, but they're being moderated. I've seen several of the older ones switch from "unmoderated" to "approved", so I just assumed.

I'm pretty sure that past first ten reviews are not being moderated. You're right. Why moderate them if you have already been paid for them.

I have been in the First Ten program from the first day, and never realized the rules expanded until recently. Gravy, like you, I often didn't include something about the review question, especially if the book was a genre I didn't like. I always thought the First Ten review was supposed to be a few sentences about the cover, summary, and sample, and to state whether there were errors. Of course, we are supposed to explain why we would buy or not buy the book. Now there are more rules and I feel like I have to write a long paragraph to answer all of the questions. In particular, the question of whether I would have sampled the book without First Ten makes each one of my First Ten reviews sound very cookie cutter.

:text-yeahthat:

That's exactly my reasoning.
That, and it seems a little odd saying that I typically don't read reviews, especially given the focus of so much of this site.

Perhaps you're correct, gali. I just looked and couldn't find any that said 'approved' from before a certain point, though I swear I saw it before.
They do still say 'unmoderated' though, which was what had me thinking it in the first place. :confusion-scratchheadyellow:
