Member of the Month

Since member of the month is no longer monthly, I wonder if it should be renamed Member of the Quarter? Just a thought.

He is still a member of that particular month. Also, MOTM sounds better in my view.

Kandscreeley, I can see your point. However, there was a member picked each month (including me!) for a long time so it seems strange to rename the award. If it's going to be renamed, I guess a more neutral word would be better - not month or quarter.

I have not been here for that long but I actually agree with Kandscreeley that it seems strange to have a member of the month award if it is not done monthly. Maybe quarterly is not the right substitution. What about just specifying the month in the award - Member of the month of May or June or whatever. Just my two cents.

Can we go back to doing it monthly?

I could add some more items to the Cool Stats Page to make it easier to find members who are participating the most in various ways (e.g. most posts, adding covers on Bookshelves, etc.) which can help be a source of nominations.

We could create a suggestion box for members to nominate each other with reasons given. Those nominations could be sent privately to the moderators for consideration.

Perhaps a current member wants to join the moderation team and take the lead on nominating members for Member of the Month.

Perhaps we could add a trophy system based on the cool stats page where members get other awards for various things, most of which could be automated (e.g. most posts in March 2017, best participation in Book of the Month, etc.). With that, I could add a 'most awards' section on the Cool Stats page, which would help identify some of the most active members across multiple metrics.

Just some ideas!

Adding more items to the Cool Stats Page indeed will make it easier to nominate. I liked the idea of members offering nominations. Adding a trophy system sounds good too.
