Tiger999, I don't always enter everyday for various reasons - temporary issues with my email bouncing, being on vacation, etc. Here's the way I look at it - the giveaways are free to enter and, like any lottery/raffle, anyone can win whether they have one entry or cumulative entries. Sure, the second gift card is given to the person who has the most entries that day. However, that is an extra prize to reward the people who diligently enter each day. These giveaways are a relatively recent promotion (a year ago?). I assume Scott started the giveaways to give extra exposure to authors who are willing to discount their book for the day. When he first started the feature, there was only one daily gift card and no cumulative entries. From what I remember, he added the second cumulative prize at some point because some people complained that they never won.

Thanks so much, bookowlie, for your explanation...I understand so much better now! :) I'm a newbie & I didn't realize that there were 2 ways to win. I always make a special effort to get to OBC whenever I can get online...Love to read, & love to read about books with people who also love to read! I was disappointed to see my carryover points gone the other day, & I wasn't sure why. I didn't care so much about winning, as I did about my points disappearing...it was the principle of it (I can afford to buy or borrow the books I want to read). A BIG thank you to you, Scott, and all the other leaders for all you do in providing us readers with a terrific site...I love this site & will be back as often as I can! :)

Believe me, I also get frustrated. My BOTD subscription had been suspended for two weeks due to issues with AOL and this site. So....I wasn't able to enter the giveaways during that time.

@TIGER999 An extra reminder email with a subject along the lines of "Oh no your carryover entries are going to be lost" should have been emailed on the day you didn't enter if you had carryover entries from the previous day and hadn't entered by around 7:00pm EST. Did that not go through?

Scott...I never saw any email like that. I wouldn't have seen it in time anyway, because if I was online that day I would've automatically gone to OBC. Also, I'm not a regular email checker, but I didn't see anything like that when I caught up the next day...I just saw alerts to answers to posts that I'd made. But, thanks for the "heads up"...I'll watch for that in the future to see if I get an email like that. I'm not sure it will do any good, because my online time is limited at times right now. I appreciate your reply though, and assume that this policy is here to stay? (Not too crazy about the "social profiles" entries either! lol)
PS While I have your ear...2 quick questions: 1. Am I supposed to subscribe to forums? If so, which ones, and how do I do that? 2. I often like to make corrections to posts when I'm trying to add in a book, say...but it won't allow me to do that it seems once I hit "enter". How or can I make corrections after I've hit "enter"?
