I have for a while been thinking of renaming it to just 'not interested' shelf. I think many members do not like to use it because they feel like they are insulting the book.

May I suggest renaming it 'Storage'?Scott wrote:I have for a while been thinking of renaming it to just 'not interested' shelf. I think many members do not like to use it because they feel like they are insulting the book.
Personally, I have quite a few things I'd use it for (things I don't want to place on the other shelves, things I'm interested in and just want to remember...ect...), but I do have a problem insinuating that something I just can't figure out where else to place is 'trash'...even if it's only to myself
Also...I've noticed that the trash bins say they're private but aren't
What is grief, if not love persevering?
Grief is just love with no place to go.

Good catch! I have fixed it so it is only visible to one when viewing one's own shelves.Graverobber wrote:Also...I've noticed that the trash bins say they're private but aren't

Completely agree, gali. You could move it to the trash bin but I think it would be so much neater to just remove the book entirelygali wrote:I think there should be an option to remove a book from the personal shelves/trash bin, if one put a book there by mistake.

The software is designed to prevent duplication anyway, but there is no need to add it since it will be automatically added once you complete the review.bookowlie wrote:Speaking of the Bookshelves, I recently added a book that I am reading for review purposes. I noticed that the previous review books that I've read were automatically added. When officially reviewing a book, are we not supposed to add it since it will eventually cause duplication?

Only mods can delete books. You can report those duplicated books, so a mod can deal with it. It will be faster that way.adria_charles wrote:I am in a predicament. I recently joined a week ago or so and have been adding books. I then noticed that I am able to load my Goodreads books to the shelves. When I did that I realize that some books are duplicated. I noticed that it was stated that duplicated books will eventually be removed. How long does this generally take? I also ended up adding a few books twice, before I realized I could upload Goodreads. I realize there is still no option to delete books. Just want to see if this will right itself on its own. Especially since I have duplicates in my "currently reading" shelf. Thank you
To report an issue, users simply click the "report it" link on a book's page. There, one can select the appropriate reason for reporting and provide any corrections. Once this is done, a Moderator will deal with it accordingly. Alternatively, if the user is aware of a correct version of the book already on the site, they can paste a link to it in the appropriate place while reporting and make the process easier, as well removing a duplicate from the shelves.
