Bookshelves Suggestion

Post by bluemel4 »

Hiya @Scott! I wonder if it would be possible to have a way to select a book from a review to our to-read Bookshelves. It would make it easier to remember the books that I'd like to read after reading a good review.

Well when reviews are published there is a link to view the book on Bookshelves at the bottom of the review. Are you thinking of a 1-click add button?

I would like to organize and sort my book titles on each of my shelves. Is there a way to do this? If not, how about providing this feature for us? Thanks! :)

I think it would be great to have an "agree" tab for when we are in a forum. It would be great to have something to show a person who has a response to whatever that you like their idea or response. Just my humble opinion :)

Yes!! Love that idea...it'd be much more convenient, efficient & space-saving, rather than writing a reply, or adding an additional post...which I suspect most members don't bother to do. One could see at a glance how many others agree, and thus how popular that idea or suggestion is amongst the membership.

This has been suggested before. I actually like not having one, as it encourages members to actually respond. :tiphat:

I'm not sure that it does encourage most members to respond...I suspect most readers just move on, and don't bother to write a reply, unless they feel extremely strongly one way or the other. I think most people are too busy, or in too much of a hurry to stop & write a response. It could also tally all the responses together...especially if there was both an "agree" and "disagree" button. Suggestion: why not try it out for a bit, & then evalutate the results? You might be surprised! :)

PS...As you can see, so far there was no member response to blueme's suggestion, no response to my 8/7 suggestion, and no regular member (non-moderator) response to italicoil's suggestion except for mine, even though there were 278 views!! Point made?? I still think members' convenience is of the utmost importance to get an accurate view of members' opinions!

I find when there are like and dislike buttons, people live and die by how many likes, or worse, dislikes their posts receive. I think a disagree button would ultimately lead people to not post if they feel like they've gotten too many in the past. Or could lead to animosity between members. This is a very peaceful forum and I think the absence of these sorts of buttons are a part of that. That's just my two cents.

Also, I'm not sure if members should be encouraged to post to something they don't feel strongly about. That could take away from the number of meaningful posts on this forum. Once again, just my opinion.
