I don't have a kindle, but I would save the money, and tolerate the ads

I have a Kindle and I chose the ad-free version. I have enough ads on T.V, I don't want them on my device as well. It may be possible to remove the ads from the Kindle, but I don't want to give up on my warranty. My kindle was out of order a few times and the service was quick and efficient.

I have an old version of the Kindle (bought few years back, still without a touch screen) and I don't remember paying to remove ads, but I don't have any. Is this new?

I broke my kindle recently and had to get a new one. I paid extra and got the ad free version.

I despise the ads, but I'm too cheap to pay the fee. Deep in my heart I believe if you pay to skip the ads, they'll just charge you more later. It's like a protection racket. "Nice Kindle you got there. It'd be a shame if something were to happen to it..." Start paying, and more fees will pop up in time.

I hardly see the ads since they only show when the Kindle is turned off. I prefer to save my $ for more books.

Obviously, having the choice is always the better option. Amazon could do no ads and simply charge more for the ereader or they could have ads and charge less but they give the consumer the option. Good for Amazon.

I have had kindles with the ads and without. I think some people may think the ads will disrupt their reading, but they don't show while you are reading a book. It is a box about a centimeter or so big at the bottom of the screen, and it shows on the main page of your kindle only. So save that money. You can always turn it off by going to "manage my kindle" on the Amazon site. Truly it has been handy, because it suggests books based on what you've read or are reading.

I have a Kindle fire, so I don't have the option to nix the ads. I really don't mind the ads being there, as long as they are relevant to what I am downloading on my Kindle. I DO think that it sucks to pay more for something like the omission of advertisements.

Maybe my kindle is an older version that doesn't even have this option on it at all because I honestly have no idea what you guys are talking about! I have never seen any ads and I didn't pay any extra money. The thing only cost $80!

The difference between ads and no ads is now $20. I always like to have a choice. Since I live in Mexico I don't have a choice but I appreciate Amazon for a lot of things and giving people who live in the U.S. the choice is one of them.

My original first gen kindle didn't have an ads option and had 3g. My current kindle has ads and does not have 3g. I don't really notice the ads so being ad free isn't worth any additional money to me. That money could be spent on actual reading material instead.

I have the ads and I honestly don't notice them. I rarely connect my kindle to wifi so they don't update very often. Maybe if I had bought it for myself I would have paid for ad free, but it was a Christmas gift and I would not have asked my mom to pay more for that. They really don't bother me at all.

Ads don't bother me, but they actually help remind me that I might have left my Kindle on. I know it sounds foolish, but there have been plenty of times when commuting to work on public transportation where I will find myself closing my kindle case "thinking I turned it off" when actually I open it back up briefly and see the ad on the screensaver.

I can't remember a time when I clicked on the ad to download a book.

The ads don't bother me at all. As long as they're not popping up between pages, who cares?
