Am in two minds about this. Ultimately a great book is better than a great film and much cheaper to get.

Update from the last time I posted: Recently I decided to give Kindle Unlimited another shot. Currently I have ten books waiting from KU that I am wanting to read. :) I may decide to keep it this time I am not sure yet.

I am new to this website and I wondered if it would benefit me to buy Kindle Unlimited to assist with my reading for this site? I am an avid reader anyway, so I am sure I would use it, but I also get lots of books for free from different websites and I search Pinterest often for free book lists.
So my question is, to be a paid participant and frequent book reviewer on this site, would it be worth the money every month to pay for the program?
I also have a Nook and can download books there.
Thanks all!

One doesn't need to have Kindle Unlimited in order to review books here.

You can read about Kindle Unlimited on this thread: Kindle Unlimited.

So I am confused. With KU do you just borrow a book or however many , and just read it in a month and then it goes back? or do you actually get to keep the book? I was only considering it because I saw some books on here that were offered or free with KU.
Thanks for the information!

There's been this new (or old, not sure) issue with KU where Amazon doesn't have a way to track how many pages a reader has gone through. There was a scam that was (is?) going around where authors would provide a link in the first page or so that would lead to the last page. I remember reading through a very unhappy indie author's article about this not too long ago and was and wasn't surprised. Oh corporations...

Personally when I first joined the trial of kindle unlimited I found that they had a few good selections but what I noticed was that most of the books on there were series, so the first one was "free" with kindle unlimited but the second book was not. I was pretty disappointed to it and it seems like a way to just get you to buy other books. I prefer using overdrive ?

I just signed up about a month ago. FIRST MONTH IS FREE!! So maybe try it out and see if it's worth the money for the month. A lot of the books to review are from Kindle Unlimited. Not sure if it is just because I'm new to reviews, but that's why I subscribed. So far I have gotten my use from it. I have a kobo and still have tons of books to read on it, so sometimes I'm kind of torn. Want to read from my kindle to get my money's worth but have so many good books on my kobo to read.

Kindle unlimited is cheaper in the long run but you don't get to keep the books so you have to re get the same book and I like to reread the same books if I get bored.

I also had signed up for kindle unlimited. I wasn't impressed! The selection I browsed was not what I thought it would be. A lot of the books or series I enjoy reading were not available through Kindle Unlimited so it was not really worth what I was paying for it. I would be better off getting a library card and getting the books I want to read free that way rather than paying a monthly subscription to read books I am not sure I would enjoy.

Kindle unlimited isn't worth it for me personally. You can get better value with your library card and overdrive for e-books.
