Re: Is it worth getting a ebook reader?

Post by Dvince123 »

My daughter got a Nook as Christmas gift a couple years ago and loves it. I have borrowed it once or twice and enjoyed reading some books that were only offered as ebooks. I haven't been able to make the leap to buy my own reader as I still love to read a book in a hot bath and at the beach and I am too afraid of ruining the reader.

Funny question from 4 years ago. Now it seems like it's the same as asking, "Is it worth it getting one of those horseless carriage contraptions? I mean, do you really think they'll catch on?"

It's worth it because the world of technology is evolving. People are publishing books electronically rather than physically. You should still keep your physical books but you should have at least one device that you can read e-books from. Your phone is fine as well.

Yes definitely! Plus with readers like Kindle, Nook, Ice Cream, and Kobo, there's no need to buy books. They have tons of books you can read for free. I don't know if Amazon started this trend but they give away 5-10 Ebooks free on a weekly basis. So you don't need to buy. But since the books they give for free are only the first in a trilogy, then you'll have to buy the next two installments. That's marketing the Amazon way.
But since I started with my Kindle reader many years back I probably have around 1000+ books in my Kindle Cloud waiting to be downloaded. And I got them all for free!

I don't think so, IMO.

I think its important to get an e-book reader because of its convenience. where ever you are you can just open and start reading your book.

Yes of course. It's very convenient. You will never need to stack several of paperbacks when you travel because you can have a whole library in your phone or tablet and can bring them whenever you go out. And when reading at night you will not need to turn the lights on.
