I prefer the touchscreen option. It's easier to slide your fingers across the screen than to be tapping nonstop. The disadvantage however is the increased lack of sensitivity over time and that sometimes you accidentally select something or skip the page which can be really frustrating when reading. What is preferable are the readers than allow you to tilt the device one way to skip the page, or the ones that have the folded-over leaf at the top that you barely have to touch.
And in the end, we were all just humans... Drunk on the idea that love, only love, could heal our brokenness.

Touchscreens definitely! It is much easier to manipulate, feels more like a real physical book, too.

I enjoy touchscreen readers.

It was very interesting to see some of the comments made in this forum, I have a learned a couple of thing through reading some of the posts. I had no idea that there is now something called a voyager out there and it sounds like it offers everything and then some to the reader who can afford it. A few years ago my daughter purchased a Kindle Fire and ended up purchasing the Kindle Fire, so gave me the older version. I really enjoyed it, but it quickly lost the allure as there were certain things that I could not do on that tablet that I had to get on the computer for and eventually it just got stored away somewhere. The only problem that I had with mine was that I really had to be careful where I touched it as I was always losing the content and that was frustrating to me. Now I am going to have to take a day and wander in Barnes and Noble and take a look at the tablets that are available now. Maybe if I am a really good girl, I can get my Birthday Fairy to bring me one for my Birthday Present. I would even be willing to forego the cake for my new tablet. Gotta go, must prepare for my shopping day at B&N.

Which hand do right-handers use to swipe? Does it matter which direction? Lately, so many things have been troublesome for me as a left-handed person -- machines and such at work -- and I worry about touchscreens too. I don't want to add yet another device that's backward.
SparklingOne said the Voyager is usable with buttons or touch and from either side it sounds like. If that's right, then I guess I know which I need.

I have a kindle vogage so I have the tactile feedback sorta buttons but I can also turn the page through the touchscreen too. I actually prefer to have some sort of button as I like to feel that I’m turning the page, it helps if I accidentally turn too many as through the voyage if I’m using the buttons I’ll feel the vibration of it once per page turn.

I've only ever used a touchscreen one and I like it, I feel like buttons would hinder being able to read the book in solid flow.

I also prefer touchscreens, for many of the reasons mentioned above. It gives a sleeker design and can be customized more easily than physical buttons.

I would prefer buttons to touch. For me, it seems like I am always flipping pages accidentally on the touch screens whereas the buttons I seem to do it least,

Touchscreens because they are more convenient to use.
