I use the Kindle app almost exclusively. I have Kindle Unlimited and I like the aspect of being able to check out and return books along with having books that I can download and retain.

Ages ago when I was reading my favorite way to read books on my Sony reader was by downloading them from Project Gutenberg which now has over 57,000 free books. I like a lot of books that were written in the 1800s and early 1900s and due to copyright expiration books that were written prior to 1923 or those that are later but not copyrighted can be downloaded for free. So you can get series like some of the great classic authors like Jack London, H. G. Wells, Jules Verne, Edgar Allen Poe, Aldous Huxley, Robert E. Howard, James Joyce, Charles Dickens, Jane Austin, etc. as well as non-fiction from Plato, Pliny, and other philosophical writers. These can be downloaded as Kindle or epub and you can search either by title or author. If you are not familiar with this site you can find it at http://www.gutenberg.org/. They also now have a self-publishing press section where contemporary authors can put up their book for free at http://self.gutenberg.org/.

Actually as I write this and looked up Project Gutenberg, I got the bug again to read some of that great classic literature.

I usually use the default Apple app, iBooks. however recently I've been reading ebooks from the Internet Archive which requires you to use Adobe Digital Editions.

Kindle app for sure is the best I have ever tried and approved for other readers.

Besides from the usual apps, I also use Libby or Overdrive which is basically an ebook library where you sign in with your library card.

I am currently loving Hoopla. I am able to listen to audiobooks and read ebooks through my library. There were so many books that I was unsure about and I wanted to try, and this app allowed me to do it. I also love listening to audiobooks while I exercise or clean. I also love Libby, which is basically the same thing.

I use Kindle and am quite satisfied. To tell you the truth I don't know much about others that are out there so this is a good discussion. I started using Kindle when my husband and I were traveling so much in South Asia and it was so convenient to use instead of lugging so many books around we I didn't have to take and extra bag along just for our books. Thanks for the education on other reading apps out there.

I have only been using Kindle on my smartphone. So far so good. I like how easy it is to use and so far it's my go-to. I'm thinking of trying out the others to see what they are like before making my final judgement. Though, truthfully, I'd say I prefer Kindle.

I like kindle & iBooks but my favorite app has to be Wattpad because you can read the stories for free & follow along as the writers update their story. I read a lot of books that got published later; The first two books of the dark heroine series by Abigail Gibbs, the kissing booth by Beth Reekles, One night with the prince by TM Mendes, and many more that I can’t remember off the top of my head.
