I am a fan of textbooks. Especially for students in elementary and junior high. Tablets provide too many distractions for younger students. Plus, they are expensive and would need continuous updating. I think a better investment of the money would be to hire more great teachers.
Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him.

Tablets are really a distraction for children and they interfere with their studies as lots of them have tons of games that children use every breathing moment of their lives.
I'm for textbooks as well.

Progress comes at a price and I think schools using tablets is progress and the price would have to be the end of our good old books as we know them.

As much as I do not like the idea of kids using tables at the same time I think it is good for them to get familiar with them at a young age. I think it is ok as long as they have a time limit on how long to be on the tablet.

I think introducing both is necessary. That way, students can find which one they prefer. Since we are heading towards more electronic use, learning how to use a tablet is essential.

I think similar discussion took place when a pencil was replaced by a pen.I do not agree with tablets.Instead they should build those schools which have poor infrastructures. Also consider the poor sighted children. Thanks for bringing this discussion.

In my opinion, tablets could be introduced to school children but still the paper and pen system should remain.

Tablets should not be given to students before they are 15 years or older. Paperback books give a feeling of love and create attraction for the students

I think that books are better than tablets they don't need to be charged and smaller children tend to break things which could make the tablets' expenses more than its worth with all of the replacements that could be needed. I thinks schools should not upgrade because it is in the children's best interest not to.

Tablets! Books are way WAY heavier to carry around and can be damaged easier than tablets. Plus, students could benefit from all featres the tablets have to offer too!

I like the use of tablets. It can hold alot of books downloaded on it. It's also not as heavy to pack around like alot of books.

I think tablets are a great addition to schools. They are a lot lighter then having a backpack full of text books. My son was issued a tablet as a freshman , and he will use that same tablet through his four years in high school. He can write his essays, search the internet, and review homework assignments. Very convienent.
