Anyone else get motion sick when reading in a car?

Post by Tedmorgan »

I can't read my kindle for more than 2 minutes in a car without get nauseas. Anyone else have this problem? Any remedies to suggest? I am stuck in a car for an hour a day and would love to be reading the whole time rather than look at traffic

Hi.
I get nauseous when reading almost anything in a car! I can only read for about 10 mins max before my head hurts and I feel sick. I don't know of anything to prevent it:/ but you could maybe take breaks and look ahead or try and get in a comfy position that your body is less likely to notice the motion of the car. :P
Sorry I don't know what else to suggest.

Hey.
I don't get motion sick in the car but my sister does. She says that eating helps and so does chewing gum! She says it keeps her distracted and she doesn't even notice the motion then. I hope this helps. Cheers!

I think most people get car sick while reading in their vehicle. I, too, would love to spend riding time with a good book, but I wait until I'm somewhere stationary to read.

I'm so thankful I don't get motion sickness while reading in the car. I look forward to long road trips with my husband driving so I can read the entire time.
I might suggest listening to an audiobook instead of reading. I listen all the time when I'm driving.

I also get nauseous when reading in any moving vehicle. I used to read my homework when coming home from school on the bus and instantly like 1 min. into reading I start to get sick and want to vomit.

I seem to be able to read whenever and wherever, I can drown out noise, motion doesn't bother me, for which I feel particularly blessed! 8)

Yes !!! I get hot, sick to my stomach, and get a headache for about 3 hours if I try to read while in the car. I cannot ride in the back seat either. I also get sick on cruise ships, airplanes, and curvy roads. I take motion sickness medicine for flying and cruising, but never tried it for the car. Most medicines make you drowsy, so I'm not sure how much it would help while riding. If anyone has a remedy, please help!

I used to get sick when I read or beaded while riding. However, I was told it's the speed of the passing terrain and the stillness of the work/book. So I position my reading so that I'm facing the center of the vehicle. Sick no more. But my friend's son is sick whether he sees the movement or not.

I can't focus on anything while riding in the car, let alone read.

I get super car sick always, I haven't even tried reading! But I came across these sea-bands (CVS I think?) and it's these bands you put on a certain pressure point on your wrists. It makes car rides a little easier to handle for me! So maybe it can help with the reading thing. Or audio books? I haven't tried any before but I know some people love them.
