I believe they would have volunteered to fight because even though that country didn't want them, they had a deep sense of love for the country.

I don't think skin color has anything to do with how much an individual loves his/her country and wants to defend it and fight for it. Patriots come in all different shapes, sizes, and colors. It depends on an individual's family history, personal experiences, and beliefs.

I honestly doubt that people of color would have fought in the war. I personally wouldn't want to fight for someone who not only didn't like me but didn't want me there. On the other hand, there are innocents, so I think it would be down to personal morals.

No I don't think most people would have joined. Even while volunteering, they would still have been treated unfairly.

I believe that people of color would have offered to fight. If we go back in time, there were many instances where people of color fought. These people would volunteer just as much as anyone else because they love their nation so much.

If there was no forceful conscription I don't think people of color would volunteer willing to fight for those who don't treat them well.

Evidently, the majority of people would not have joined. They were still given the impression that they didn't belong there even when volunteering.

I feel like you can always get someone to execute anything for you as long as you convince them in the right manner. If people of color were treated with concern and regard they would perhaps have willingly volunteered in large numbers.

It may be that very few would have joined the call, only those who had a great affinity with those ideals.

I believe you both have a point. Societal class, in my opinion, influences outcomes just as much as race does. It's possible that wealthier African Americans were more motivated to assist than their less fortunate counterparts. All ethnicities can approximately translate this.

No, I don't think they would because definitely they would be afraid of being treated unfairly.

There would always be some people who would volunteer but I imagine the numbers would have been significantly lower for sure.

People of color would have still offered to serve in the war, in my opinion, because sometimes love for one's nation transcends all logic and because, in human terms, loving someone or something doesn't change depending on whether that person or thing returns the love.
