I usually find it difficult to relate with near-perfect people who rarely ever exhibit traits of humanity. That was precisely how I felt about Cecilia's character. I couldn't relate to her life, and I didn't find her likeable.

I actually didn't feel emotionally very connected to her. She seemed shallow even having lived as long as she had. I would have loved more character development. Digging into her emotions around her life and why she decided to go the opposite way.

The fact she really tried mingling with humans made her likable. Other than that, her little shows of arrogance and past crimes made me think otherwise.

If Cecilia didn't act as a spoiled rich girl obviously she would have gotten a good presentable character.

I think what makes Cecil's a great character is that she has truly despicable moments and really great moments of redemption so yes I liked her

valeriejane wrote: 10 Dec 2021, 17:49 I wish that Cecilia had a few human flaws to make her human side more authentic and personable. While I wanted to root for Cecilia, all too often she displayed the hallmarks of a spoiled rich girl who was mad at her daddy.
Did anyone else have a problem relating to Cecilia?
Indeed, she may have been relatable but the likability aspect was a bit touch-and-go. One has sympathy for her character, but much of empathy is not as easily attainable.

Regarding your comment of 'human flaws', I assume you mean this in terms of physical flaws? For the psychological flaws are almost ever present, as an example you state her being a 'spoiled rich girl who is mad at her daddy'. This said, it may just be that despite her very human psychological flaws, it may just be the type of character she is that puts you off in a way?
Forgive my insights if they are too much, I tend to be a very analytical creature and mean none of my commentary in a negative light, rather as a thought you might want to counter me on.
Great topic to discuss, by the way :D

After being sheltered for so long, being a little spoilt rich brat was inevitable no matter how old she was supposed to be. I like the personality, it shows how she is trying to relate with people and how no one is perfect.

I think Cecilia could've had some more human attributes. Although she tries her best she still wasn't good enough for some situations. And she somewhat showed that spoiled little brat characteristic of her as well. But as the story reached to an end she started to like humans for real.

The answer to this question is unequivocal, sometimes I admired her character, sometimes vice versa. In the end I liked the most that she was constantly trying to develop herself. For me it is really appreciated. Any attempt at progress is welcome.

I do find her likable but I wish she could show more of her human side and display human feeling much more explicitly.

I like Cecilia but I dislike her when I remember her past crimes and show off as a silly daughter of her rich daddy.

While my initial reaction was one of dislike, I did come to like Cecilia as her character evolved. I do feel her character could have done with a bit more depth.
