This is a thought-provoking question...

John, with his passionate vision of achieving his dreams made the narrative a lot more challenging especially for those who can relate with him. He thought he will be the architect of the next building because he wanted it. He chose to be.

Regardless of John’s mental issues that were deep rooted. I believe that his drive and determination led him to Blanworth. This was his only dream and even though it didn’t seem feasible at the time, John was still moved by his passion and desire. Nothing could stop him. He was a very zealous architect and only wanted to leave his mark on this earth. This were the things, I believe, that led him to Blanworth.

I think John was desperate and would go to any length to achieve his dreams. He was a failure in the past and this could have been his big shot. That's why he went to Blanworth in spite of his condition.

John was a passionate architect and he had viewed himself as the future architect and designer in rebuilding the building. He had a vision and his desperation to achieve his dreams made him visit the site and conduct a site survey. He was envisioning himself as the leading architect of the project.

John is a dreamer and even in an inebriated state he went to survey the site. It shows his zeal, enthusiasm, desperation for Zenith. I cannot call it mental illness because many times we all do something similar.

From the day when John first heard the news of explosion and falling of that building, his thoughts were occupied with the dream of designing the next building. He also visited the site to note the measurements of that buildings area. Although, he could have got the same information from internet but he went there because of his desperation. It was something which seemed very big to him but he followed his gut feeling.

I believe it's because of two reasons. First, because of his ego; John is ambitious and he has this trait who will pursue everything he wants. Second, because of the effect of alcohol; we tend to show the real us when we are under the influence of alcohol since it gives us so much courage to do what we want to do.

Given his passionate self, I do think he surveyed the site only to fulfill his dream. But things never worked out for him anyway.

I think everyone has a right to be daydreamer. So, even if he simply desired and dreamed, I don't believe John "believed" he would be the architect of the new building.

John had envisioned himself as the building's future architect and designer. As a result, he went there and completed a site assessment with renewed passion for his visions. Nothing came in his way, no matter how dangerous it appeared. Regardless, he went ahead and did it. His existence is made more intriguing by the chance of a dream coming true.

John does suffer from deep mental issues from my point of view. I feel he saw constructing the new building as a fulfilment of his long term aspirations.

I wouldn't say it was because of his mental issues. I wouldn't even put deep meaning into it. I believe it was just a professional, doing his job.

Being desperate for something will make any person do sane things which makes them busy. John was desperate so this drove him to survey the zenith building as a way of entering the riffle before biding.

I think it was John's ambition that caused him to go to Blanworth. He desperately wanted to be the architect of the new building. I think the certainty he felt that he would be the architect was a result of his ambition and desire, mixed with alcohol.

John believed in himself and to me I think he also wanted to prove that to other that he is a good architecture who can design a good building like zenith. He desperately work towards this even though he had amnesia.
