The more written about something the less we really understand
by Dr Oh Kyle.
Why can't Johnny just quit is a non-fiction written by Dr Oh Kyle, who appears to be a physiastrist and pain management specialist.
The book contains vital information about what addiction really entails, about the myth and misconceptions regarding addiction.
Questions are often asked about this age old topic called addiction,
Questions like, Is addiction just an over hyped state of being intoxicated? is addiction interchangeable for abuse? Is there any cure for addiction?.
Well, this book sheds lights on those kind of questions and gives a better explanation and definition of addiction.

Oh began his analysis about drugs dependence by discussing about, 10 myth and misconception of addiction, and how it's poorly and inaccurately portrayed on TV, movies and on the media; presuming as if the person who's always high looks intoxicated, inebriated and half falling asleep.
Oh, on his opinion explain profoundly that all addiction has a genetic basis, and he emphasized that we just have not found all the genes yet.

According to Oh, he said that addiction has warning signs which one could avoid from been an addict only if your observe and consider those signs. At the end of the book the author included a helpful glossary filled with lots of information( including links) regarding addiction, which he gives to his own patients. Addiction has always been a problem in our society; we often treat people who are addicted to drugs so badly, call them criminals, mudrers, hopeless people and we eventually lock them away.

I totally agree with oh's word when he said
There are many lost souls out there looking for someone to lend them a helping hand in conquering their demons
. I believe to every action there's always a "why" behind it, so before solving a problem you should understand the problem first. One of the reason drug addicts becomes addicts is because, they feel they are out of options and therefore get so depressed, with no one to help them through, they seek solace in drugs and eventually get addicted(not all) that's where it all starts.

In my course, of reading i read I saw the three reasons why oh wrote this book, and i find it amusing; especially the second reason , to redefine addiction in a way that finally makes sense of this often miss understood subject. Over the years say no to drugs campaigns has been carried out in various places across the word spreading the wrong message, because their focus is fear, and they say stuff like
Anyone who tries it will get hooked, that everyone's respond to drugs is the same
, which I fancy not to be true.I think they should focus more on the prevention rather than the cure, like educating them why leople who are victims becomes addicts at first. As they always say knowledge is light, knowledge is power, i believe knowledge could change the world positively. So it's time we understand the concept of addiction and try help those who are victims of this disease called addiction.

I rate this book 4 out 4 stars. As there was nothing i disliked about the book, though they were few typos, but didn't stop the book from becoming an educating read, this book is not just another book about addiction, it's a book for everyone and not just addicts i strongly recommend it for everyone.

I have read and reviewed this book and indeed, it is a new passageway to addiction. The viability of the premises resonates in Dr. Oh's continued study in this field. In addition to all the highly educational information the author presents, I also liked the idea of strengthening the patient-doctor relationship, in which the specialist must know the sufferer more deeply to treat him/her. A doctor who exceeds the status of prescribing drugs, while keeping professionalism, can only be appreciated. Just review!

It took me rereading the quote at the top at least thrice to understand what it meant. Excess information makes things harder to understand sometimes. I agree

I had to pass on the book because of the confusing description, but you did a great job reviewing it!
