Memoirs that could just as well be fiction are the best. It means the storyteller is brilliant, and that he had a life worth living.
Awesome review :)

The supplemental material sounds like it could be really interesting to look through, but I can definitely imagine it becoming too heavy in a narrative. It almost seems like this book would be stronger if it were separated into two. I appreciate your thorough review! I may be checking this one out.

I was interested in the transition “from the mob to the therapist’s chair” but found only about half of the book kept me wanting to read on. I was hoping for more insight into the process of the vast transformation but found it to be more logistical data than human process. Around half of the book consists of transcripts of court cases and letters of thanks and commendation, written to the author by his clients, associates, attorneys, and lawmakers. This section was tedious to get through.
This does sound dry. The first thing that caught my eye was the title of the book. I wish the book focused more on the intriguing transformation.

Thank you for the awesome review.
There are definitely some compelling sections of this book, but yes, it was missing some key elements. Thank you so much for stopping by.

You nailed it. I would have loved more drilling down on the transformative process. Thanks for dropping by and commenting.

I thought the same thing. The story could have been expanded to include more details of the transformation. Then the supplemental materials would have been easier to digest. Thanks so much for dropping by and sharing your thoughts.

It sounds as if the story would have appealed to a wider audience had the "dry" sections been kept to more of a minimum than they apparently were. Since I have huge problems continuing a book with long "dry" sections, I'll probably give this one a pass. Thanks for the informative review!

It sounds like it would've been a great read for me, if not for the dense segments of paperwork that dragged. It definitely sounds like an interesting memoir, though. Thanks for your in-depth review.

It can be easily enjoyed without bothering to read the supplemental materials. Thanks so much for stopping by!
