Wow! Great review. I'm not a fan of memoirs, but your review has me interested in learning about Dr. Douglas's journey. It is really sad that Racism and classism is still affecting many of our lives even today after so many brave souls in the past has fought for our freedom and equality.

I am African and it breaks my heart to know that I will one day be judged by the color of my skin if I decide to move to a Western country. I will love to read Edwards's story. Great review.

A memoir detailing the success story of a black young man who didn't let discrimination stop him and became a preeminent scientist sounds uplifting. It is good the author is open and not afraid to speak his mind. His rise to the top is impressive. Unfortunately, many minorities experience discrimination and prejudice. Too bad about the extensive technical details, but at least it was well edited. Not for me, but I am glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for the review!

Great job done with this review. How many great inventions has the world been deprived of just because of racism against competent inventors? Racism has and still sets the world back today. Perseverance always overcomes adversity in the end.

The book seems nice through the official review. Racism is the worst thing that can happen in any society. Discrimination should not be condoned anywhere in the world. I would be glad to read this book.

People may visualize the experience of reading this book in different ways. I see it as a book of hope. One can do anything and everything one wants to. Sometimes, it may take a while for people to see your worth, but at the end your efforts pay off. Congrats to the author for such achievements!

Thanks for your review! It's quite an accomplishment that the author was able to earn a scholarship. I admire that the author was able to overcome adversity and obtain his medical degree from Cornell. I don't know much about British Guiana so it would be interesting to learn about the country. I'm curious to see the differences in racial dynamics between the U.S. and British Guiana.
