Thanks for the praise, Cecilia_L! I am blushing. Do give the book a try.

You have written a beautiful review. I have a good sense of this book and cannot start reading it soon enough. I love words and their significance in our world, and I know I would love this book. I love an author with a sense of humor as well. You captured that well in your review. Thanks so much.Miriam Molina wrote: ↑10 Aug 2018, 13:25 The reader will have all the above and more! While feeding your brain with her collection of enchanting trivia about words - which she touts as the greatest human creation, Susanna will also effortlessly tickle your funny bone. The lady is a natural comic. There is also the bonus lesson that she drills into the reader: learning a second language will keep the demon called Alzheimer’s Disease at bay; this is no idle claim as scientific evidence abounds to support it.
contenders.

Yes, the book would be good in the bathroom, LOL! In fact, there's a topic about that sacred location.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Kat Berg!

In Wordstruck!, Susanna Janssen passionately shares her unique romance with the most faithful of lovers: words!
Susanna shares that the secret to succeeding in anything (including learning a second language) is to keep at it.

I did too with the book, head over heels! I hope you can read it as well. It would be great bathroom reading because each topic is standalone. Oh my, Eva! You made my day. Thanks so much for the vote of confidence.Eva Darrington wrote: ↑27 Sep 2018, 21:06 Where has this book been all my life? I enjoyed reading your review and know I would love this unique book as well. I played the dictionary game in college. I won't say when that was... but It was good fun. I can see a wordie inventing that game. Clearly, it is time to pull out the Italian language audio.

I enjoy reading and writing reviews. Those are my intelligent exercises in the midst of caring for my folks and keeping house full-time. Believe you me, I need those breaks to keep sane! Thanks again!

The procrastination ("I'm busy!"), the excuses ("I'm old!"), Spanish tucked in the closet (although I haven't got much to store), amazement with the power of language to create and to do just about anything, more self-deprecation, and all else, I could definitely relate with. I bagged a Languages Award once from my bachelor's degree years, but that was so many decades ago that I barely could remember why.
It could already be time to go back to long-forgotten things, once and for all. So I'm placing this piece in my Want to Read list so quickly before my memory catches the better part of me.
I wonder if "fake news" became word or words of the year, though. That's just being a hopeless smart-alec so I'm erasing the thought.
Your review is thoughtful, witty, convincing, and so well-written. Muchos gracias.
