After reading your review, I'm definitely giving this a miss. Whilst the author (like you mentioned) seems to be intelligent, it is a pity that his perspective is limited by his own prejudice. I appreciate a good debate, but this is clearly not the case. Thanks for the lovely review! (:

I was expecting something a little different from the title. I don't care for anything that can be deemed a "political rant."

Curious: is the fact that he's a plane crash survivor relevant or interesting at all?

Nice review. Thanks for saving me from a political tirade.

I should have probably mentioned that. :D To be honest, the plane crash is barely mentioned. It's a short at the back of the book and he mentions it a few times as his reason for rethinking life, but I don't feel like it impacted much of his thoughts.

This might be a bit late in the replies but I just feel it is necessary to add that I have nothing against the Republican/Conservative party. I have always felt that both parties bring valid points to the table.
Your political views are your own. No one has the right to discriminate or bully you because of them. Just because I do not agree with something doesn't make it any less valid. The only time I will openly oppose an opinion is when it is harming someone.
I did not deduct marks on this book because of the authors political standing.
I did because it was predominantly a rant and it felt very biased, angry, and one-sided.
I just wanted to clarify on that in case someone felt slighted or like I was being judgemental.
Have a great day :tiphat:

I'm so glad that I didn't choose to review this book when I saw it on the list. I can handle different viewpoints but rants are quite another thing.
Life without a good book is something MrsCatInTheHat cannot imagine.

Thanks for this review,I finished reviewing this and some few point is noted. To me I think the author should have given his point of both parties and leave the calling names. Thanks the book is educative I love it.

It's irritating when the author tries to impose his opinions and beliefs on the readers. The last thing our world needs today is bigotry and single-mindedness. I am happy to skip this one. Thanks for the eye-opening review.

I was fist-pumping as I read your comment. We need more understanding right now, not anger. Thanks for the great comment. :tiphat:
