N.E. Mason’s A Common Sense Case for Christ is a heartfelt explanation for belief in Christ.
Belief is a core pillar of following any religion. It is also the most difficult hurdle for many to surpass. Without belief, everything else that follows will fall apart. This book begins with the concept of belief, breaking it down into easily understood explanations. It follows that up with a concise argument for why belief in Jesus Christ as the savior of humanity and belief in God are really common sense.
This book is an excellent guide for those who may be doubting their beliefs or those who do not believe. It is written in a way that is easily understood. The arguments are backed up with biblical quotes as well as historical and scientific evidence. The inclusion of history and science as proof is where this book excels, while others fail. Many similar guides use only the Bible as proof, which creates a closed loop of believing in the Bible and God because the Bible says so. Basing the belief on other outside sources lends a lot of credence to the arguments.
I especially loved the final part of the book, where the author outlines that even inanimate objects have life. While not the same life that humans have, everything is made of cells and atoms. Those particles have life. As the creator, God’s gift of life can be found in literally every grain of sand on this Earth.
I would give this book 5 out of 5 stars. It is very well-written, impeccably edited, and effective. The arguments are presented in a loving manner that explains the points without being condescending. The reality of the afterlife is put forth without the fire and brimstone of end-times pastors. Biblical passages are added, with helpful explanations added into the text to make them easy to understand. There is nothing that I would change, as it is fantastically done.
