This book, Future-Focused Wealth by Melissa Cox, CFP, introduces the concept of building financial freedom at your own pace. Through her experiences from trial and error, she learned to build wealth and make better financial decisions. Through these experiences, she guides people to achieve financial freedom with empathy and understanding.

She starts by explaining the shift in the financial landscape. She explained how savings went from saving in banks and bonds, which were preferred by older generations, to cryptocurrencies, ETFs, and the global market, which are embraced by the younger generation. She also included how the role of financial planners has shifted over the years; for example, for the Silent Generation and early Baby Boomers, local bankers were the financial experts; their roles were to provide a safe way of keeping your money, not growing it; however, Generation X and Millennials shifted to financial planners who focus on more holistic financial strategies. The book further emphasized that financial literacy is achievable regardless of your background. It discussed the difference between needs and wants while encouraging us to view money as a tool for opportunities.

The book further encourages us to balance the scale between enjoying today and planning for tomorrow. The book discusses the importance of finding the proper budget for you. It highlights different budget options, for example, the 50/30/20 rule—50% for needs, 30% for wants, and 20% for savings and debt payment. She advises that we set attainable financial goals and understand that attaining good financial health is a journey, not a destination. The book further discusses the psychology of money and how fear, anxiety, and the fear of missing out push us to make poor financial decisions.

One of the best things about this book is how simple it is. The author explained every financial term that would confuse the average person. The book covers many topics, from the basics like budgeting to intricate financial details like tax diversification. The author's tone was not just conversational; it also felt like I was receiving a one-on-one lesson from a private tutor. The chapter contained actionable advice and takeaway points, which made this book more like a guide that can be implemented in the real world.

This book doesn't have downsides; it is well-written, well-explained, and highly educational. When it comes to the book's editing, it was flawless, as I did not spot any errors while reading. I rate it five out of five stars, and I recommend this book to people who want to change their financial status.

This book seems to be relevant, especially when it touches on cryptocurrency (which I do not understand, the way) and E.T.F.s and what they do. I think it will be beneficial to readers from all walks of life.

Indeed, financial literacy is achievable regardless of one's background and it is good to read that the author also differentiates needs from wants. The fact that the author embraces evolution in the financial world, including forms of savings, is amazing. Many thanks for the review, @Love Ukaegbu.

This review really sold me on the book! I appreciate how the author blends practical advice with a compassionate tone—especially when it comes to something as overwhelming as money. It’s refreshing to hear that complex topics are broken down clearly and that the book feels like a personal financial coaching session. Definitely sounds like a must-read for anyone serious about building wealth in a modern, balanced way.
