'My Stroke of Blessings' by Liv Rosin is an inspirational autobiographical account of the author's survival from a brain stroke caused by high blood pressure. The author is a schoolteacher whose life changes suddenly when she is affected by a subarachnoid haemorrhage. The book revolves around her life as a stroke patient and how it affects her physically and mentally.

The author is a schoolteacher with a history of high blood pressure. One day, her whole life changes suddenly when she experiences a brain stroke caused by high blood pressure and is paralysed on her left side. As she recovers from her stroke, she realises that her life will never be the same again. The simple things that were extremely effortless earlier become quite demanding after the stroke. In such difficult circumstances, any person may become depressed, but she survives through her determination, sheer will, and constant efforts. This is her tale of survival from a difficult life situation and coming out a winner.

This is a truly inspiring tale. The author narrates her life experiences before and after the stroke. One of the great aspects of the book is the author's writing style, which is straightforward and uncomplicated. The narrative doesn't focus on the superficial aspects of experiencing a stroke but on its impact on a deeper level, physically as well as emotionally. The portrayal of the daily struggles faced by a stroke patient in doing basic tasks is what makes the book more powerful and impactful. In our day-to-day life, we don't give our bodily movements much thought, but stroke patients or those with physical disabilities face major challenges while performing simple activities.

Another great theme of the book is the power of will and persistence. The author survives this challenging time of her life through her great determination and constant efforts. The simple advice given to her by the nurse in the hospital changes her life. After the stroke, the author is quite depressed, and an experienced nurse gives her life-changing advice: "I can’t imagine what you’re going through, but I do know that those patients who look for and keep track of the changes each day—however small those changes may be—will be amazed at the difference a month of small changes can make." And she sticks to the nurse's advice of persistence throughout her life. This and many other situations narrated by the author provide many powerful, inspirational lessons that make the book stand out.

I rate the book 5 out of 5 because of all the above-mentioned reasons. I admired the author's courage, determination, and strength. Her story of survival from stroke and then struggles to bring her life back on track is really inspiring. The simple stories with great messages are great takeaways from the book. The book is edited professionally and doesn't contain any erotic content.

Wow. The nurse's piece of advice is really amazing, as it builds on the power of micro-changes, which not only would also help motivate one as they look back on the changes over time but also demonstrate their progress. The story sounds really inspirational, and I like the lessons on persistence and being intentional. Thanks for the review, @Dheera Kalota.

This sounds like one of those books that quietly shifts your perspective on life. I’m deeply moved by the author’s resilience and how she turned a life-altering setback into a story of strength and healing. I especially loved the nurse’s advice—what a powerful reminder to appreciate even the smallest progress. I’ll definitely be adding this to my reading list.
